An update

Wednesday July 15, 2009 | Random

I miss blogging. I really do. Unfortunately, it was what had to give to let me rest my hands and hopefully start their healing. They’re still bad, but at least I can wear them more often thanks to an innovation a coworker told me about.

The spam is getting worse around here, but it’s very fomulaic. It goes:
Random quote that might line up with a normal blog post
I am from (country) and am going to be teaching English. Please tell me if this is correct: Random spam quote that is clearly advertising services.
Thanks/Love/Ciao/etc., spambot’s name
It’s really getting on my nerves. So much, in fact, that I’m fairly certain this blog will be switching over to the new design soon. Don’t be alarmed if you arrive and it’s a whole new Skyscape.

To let everyone be aware: this blog will no longer be accessible at jamieisfeld.com in the future. It will be Skyscape3.com only. That’s because JamieIsfeld.com is going to be my web development blog. Creat Multimedia is going to be very art focused, and hopefully I launch IAteWinnipeg in the next century. I renewed the latter two for another year, so at least the domains will be there.

Last night, I got a perm. The girl – Justine at Society, downtown on Donald – did a good job. I won’t say she didn’t do a good job, and the service was excellent. However, I asked for this and got this – I even brought a sheet of examples printed out so they could see what I wanted, including that picture above. So now I have hair that’s harder to maintain, looks like an afro, needs redying and can’t redye for two weeks, doesn’t comb, tangles instantly, is severely brittle and weakened because of the chemical, needs new product, and wasn’t what I wanted… and I didn’t speak up about it at all. I’m really sensitive about my hair, so this is kind of a big blow to me. But it isn’t the girl’s fault – I think I asked for the wrong thing. The Society salon isn’t to blame, I am.

I’m going to Aaron ’s wedding this Saturday. It’s the first wedding I’ll be going to where it’s an actual friend of mine, and not just a familial obligation. It’ll probably be the last, too.

Since I was spending upwards of $150 every two weeks on groceries, I’m now forcing myself to only eat the food in my fridge, freezer and cupboards. Toast this morning was a frozen pizza crust with jam and honey on it. I ran out of milk and fruit except for a lemon, so breakfast is kind of hard. On the plus side, my freezer now closes and when I open it, and only one thing falls out at me.

Money is odd right now. I need to keep saving, but I want to buy two big purchases. The two ideas are at war with one another. I know they’re things I’ll use and things I won’t regret, like my laptop… but they’re still big purchases to make. I’m not in debt in any way… it’s just hard to save less for a bitter fifty-year-old self who wants to use that money to retire.

I may use that as the first line for all my blog comments from now on.

...you know, SPAMBOT’S NAME would be a cool name for a band….well, in Rock Band, anyway. It’s no SUCKING CHEST WOUND or KATHLEEN TURNER OVERDRIVE, but it would do in a pinch.
