Money must be funny in a moderately well-off girl's world

I don’t really think about money anymore, while simultaneously thinking about it all the time.

I’ve reached this level of full-time comfort with my job at CTV. Sure, it takes a lot of time out of my day – but in exchange, I never really have to worry about money. There’s always a paycheque every two weeks, and it’s always a number to count on.

For my upcoming teaching job, I was so excited to be able to have that experience and do well at it and encourage proper standards in new students that I completely neglected to ask about pay. It turns out that it pays very well, but honestly this is one of those things that’s worth more than money to me.

I’ve calmed down about the whole savings thing now. My future is something I can shape – not my bank balance. I’ll still save, yes – I just won’t sacrifice my current comfort for it.

It’s funny – I think I’m moderately well off when I’m probably living in terrifying conditions to someone my age living at home – after all, where’s my 55-inch plasma television, brand name clothing, and three new cars?

  1. Where is that 55-inch TV? After all, you do need to watch more movies and shows. :)
