Apartment blues
Saturday October 4, 2008 | RandomMy kitchen is blue. This weekend, my mom and I painted it and the blue aspect is finally finished. Before we can complete the kitchen, we still have to repair the apartment beige on the cupboards and windowsill and unpack all my kitchen boxes.
My kitchen set order was cancelled, leaving me without a table or chairs. All I want is something simple, pure black, moderately inexpensive, and small – a search proving to be incredibly difficult.
We’ve been going through a very thorough cleaning process in my apartment – far more thorough than most would ever think. We’ve washed walls and cupboards, moved major appliances, soaked blinds (very disturbing when you see the colour of the water afterwards), scrubbed floors… we’ve removed more dirt than some city gardens have.
It’s kind of sad that we’re doing a more thorough job than the caretakers or any previous tenant has done. I wondered how my friends managed to move so quickly and I realized it was only because they didn’t clean, they didn’t paint, they didn’t make their home a safe and tidy place.
With less than a week to go until the comic con, I’m really starting to wear down. However, there’s so much to do in such a short length of time that even sleep is optional.
